Donald John "Jack" Armstrong
October 21, 1923 - May 22, 2013
Jack Armstrong of Redondo Beach died peacefully on May 22, 2013.
He was born in Atlantic, Iowa on October 21, 1923 and was the only child of Mabel and A.W. (Wayne) Armstrong.
Jack was well known for his personality and spent his life selling himself and the company, Control Switches, Inc., which he founded in 1957. He worked at the office every day, Monday through Friday until a stroke forced him into retirement in 2009.
Jack was a veteran of World War II and served with the 307 1st Quartermaster Refrigeration Company in Europe, the Philippines and Japan until the war ended.
He is survived by Kathryn, his wife of 61 years, his six children, eleven grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.
Jack had a never-ending infectious smile, sparkling blue eyes and a wonderful sense of humor. He deeply loved his family, his friends, and his company. The employees of Control Switches have always been and will always be considered “extended family”. Three of his daughters continue to run the family-owned business.
Jack loved everyone and everyone loved Jack. He will be truly missed.
